Webinar: New Zealand law and the principles of ecosystem-based management

In this webinar Sustainable Seas National Science Challenge researchers will summarise the legal framework that applies to the management of Aotearoa New Zealand’s marine environment.

They will explain the extent to which the seven principles of ecosystem-based management (EBM) are already incorporated into law.

The webinar will be presented by Raewyn Peart, Policy Director at the Environmental Defence Society, Alison Greenaway (Senior Researcher) and Lara Taylor (Kairangahau Māori – Māori researcher) from Manaaki Whenua –Landcare Research.

This webinar is open to everyone. This topic would suit people who aren’t already familiar with relevant laws for marine management and would find an overview of law and the principles of EBM helpful.

We are planning a second seminar in June/July for lawyers and anyone else already familiar with the relevant legal framework. This seminar is likely to involve a panel discussion with Sustainable Seas researchers. If you want to be notified when dates are finalised for this second webinar please subscribe to our newsletter.
