Our work

We bring together scientists, social scientists, economists, and experts in mātauranga Māori and policy from more than 30 organisations across the country.

We are developing knowledge, tools and resources for ecosystem-based management (EBM) in Aotearoa. EBM is a holistic and inclusive way to manage marine environments and the competing uses for, demands on, and ways New Zealanders value them.

The knowledge and tools we are developing will be useful for marine resource managers, Māori, industry and communities. They will help to assess impacts on marine ecosystems and associated resources, activities, values and cultural significance.
